About Us

Andy and Tico and the rest of the world were all busy making other plans in March of 2020 when the Pandemic hit. They were both staples at the 9am Focus Fitness Hot 90 class — Tico in the front row center, Andy hiding behind the pole in the back, but it wasn’t until a chance encounter at the Home Depot during the lockdown that they got to know each other. Andy was there getting fencing for his new dog Buddy and Tico was there buying equipment for his Hot Box.
His WHAT?? “I guess it’s sort of like a Peleton for Hot Yoga” Tico went on to explain as the two Yogis stood on a one hour socially distant line. He shared that he was unable to live without hot yoga so Tico, a contractor, was going to build his own micro-studio….and Andy was fascinated.
They exchanged numbers and a few days later Tico texted Andy with a message and an invite: “Yo - the hotbox is amazing, you have to check it out”. Andy biked over to Tico’s house in Ardmore and tried out the prototype Hot Box that Tico had built in his garage and it was in fact amazing, so amazing that Andy convinced Tico to turn it into a business: My HotBox Studio.
Meanwhile, Focus Fitness had gone out of business and the building put up for sale. When David Waxman and M+M Partners purchased the property they didn’t want “just another national chain” taking the space of Focus. So he called Abbie the x-Focus owner turned real estate agent just after Andy had called Abbie asking her if she knew of any Yoga studios that might be open to install the first wave of hot boxes and ... here we are.
Andy and Tico have become family — total opposites on the outside but the same heart and passion on the inside. They are both very grateful for this opportunity to serve the community and share their love of all things “wellness”.
Tico is one of the most in-demand builders on the main line and lives in Ardmore with his two insanely amazing children and one bad-ass wife - a life sustaining Nurse. Andy lives in Narberth with his three insanely amazing children and an equally bad-ass wife Phyllis - a proud Public School teacher and when he’s not at Focus he is running his Philadelphia Music + Art non-profit Thirty Amp CIrcuit or waking his best friend dog buddy in Rolling Hills Park.
